Well, excuse Iced coffee and hello Cold brew coffee! Don’t get confused, there’s a difference between these two; aside from the taste itself, it’s the method!
The great thing about coffee is that it doesn’t always have to be served in hot. Cold brew coffee is starting it’s fame nowadays and quickly becoming the new rage; the ever legendary method that boasts a brew time for couple of hours (long hours, actually) will give you jaw-dropping appetites! 🙂
The founder of Sashy Brew (a local coffee brand), Ms. Sasha Chua started brewing as a part-time hobby turned into a real successful online biz. Inspiring yeah? “You can start small, while dreaming big. Expand your business little by little and once you’re fully ready, that’s when you go all out. Take risks, but do not be impulsive in making decisions.” she says.
The gorge and young entrepreneur tackled the simple yet impressive process of making a cold brew coffee during her interview with Yummy magazine.
How to do it?
1. Combine coarsely ground coffee with cold water following a 1:4 coffee-to-water ratio in a mason jar and stir well. For a stronger taste, reduce the amount of water and add more coffee.
2. Cover the jar tightly with a lid and leave it in your fridge or in a cool dark place to steep for 20-24 hours. “This process is very slow and selective,” notes Sasha. “But it produces a lighter extract and doesn’t alter natural flavor substances.”
3. Strain your brew through a sieve before filtering it through coffee filters or a piece of cloth like muslin. Doing so will make it easier for you to get rid of large grounds and unwanted residue in your coffee.
“The key is keeping your cold brew fresh by storing them in the refrigerator. Storing it properly will keep its aroma and flavor intact for up to two weeks.”
Summer is fast approaching, and surely Sashy Brew is gonna be your perfect buddy! I’m telling you, you have to give it a try! It’s worth it, I swear! ❤
